For your initial expenses in Germany you may use a credit card (generally accepted in department stores and in restaurants) or traveler’s cheques.
In order for EML Research to pay your grant, it is necessary for you to open a bank account.
To open a bank giro account ("Girokonto"), you may need (depending on the bank):- Passport
- Visa/Residence title
- Registration certificate ("Anmeldebestätigung") at the local public office ("Bürgeramt")
- Letter of acceptance (“Zulassungsbescheid”) from the university
