Social security contributions
For scholarship holders, the grant is free of contributions to the social security system in Germany. As EML is not responsible, the scholarship holder himself has to obtain health insurance, preferably in advance.
Taxes
For scholarship holders, the granted fund is exempt from taxes in Germany. It may be the case, though, that taxes are due in your home country.
